Airdate: April 22nd, 1997
Summary: Ash tries to catch a Weedle, at least this time he knows he has to battle it first this time. Misty almost gets her head clipped by a bug-catching samurai who is looking for… who exactly? This samurai boy prevents Ash from catching the Weedle, challenges Ash to a match, and their Metapod get very, very hard. This episode is perhaps the most phallic episode of all-time. Team Rocket decided to do some arts and crafts. Ash and the Samurai overheat trying to get as hard as possible. A Beedrill swarm is approaching, the samurai’s well-positioned house is safe cover. Once they come out, Team Rocket loudly serenades us with their theme song, waking up the Beedrill swarm, luckily Metapod’s training is on overdrive, and Butterfree has that sweet sweet sleep powder.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Samurai, at least he kind of knows what he is doing, unlike that novice, Ash.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Pinsir, how the hell do you lose to a Metapod?
One thing I learned: Disney is not the only animation company for kids that decides to also play to a particular adult audience.
Pikachu-o-meter: 2/5, Pikachu has a nice tanning session, doesn’t do much else.

Best Scene: The Metapod battle, an old-fashioned Wild West showdown of hard proportions.
