Summary: It’s time to head to Vermillion City, Ash and crew make a pitstop for a battle, Ash is on a roll winning ten straight. He takes this opportunity to show off his half-earned badges, only to hear he would be rocked by this A.J. dude and his savage Pokémon. A.J. and Sandshrew rock Ash’s shit into yesterday, and his winning streak comes to a resounding halt. A.J. has some Tamer energy, and you can see how well he raises his Pokémon in the big dome. Ash is skeptical but jealous, and underneath he revers A..J.. Team Rocket tries to pilfer Pikachu, but once again they are foiled… this is starting to become a pattern… hmmmm. But hey, they are experimenting with their theme song, trying to keep from being stale. “Choreography killed the cat,” good one, Jessie. Pikachu starts to get into… bondage. A.J. is off to bigger and better things after getting win #100, sending Team Rocket into the clouds.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: A.J. and his Sandshrew, they are elite
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Ash, he gets exposed in this episode
One thing I learned: Human training tactics work with Pokémon as well, I mean come on, Sandshrew treats that water like it’s nothing.
Pikachu-o-meter: 2/5: Pikachu really is not up for the battling; he has to fix this at some point. That pillow prop comedy works though.
Best Quote: “He’s getting a big head,” “Yeah, but his brain is the same size.”-Misty and Brock
Best Scene: Every scene Ash shows those badges off, what a prick. Luckily Brock and Misty are out for blood.
