Summary: Professor Oak challenges Ash to get moving, as Gary has five badges and thirty Pokémon already. The gang are eating some doughnuts, and Brock gives Mankey one. Ash tries to catch it, but this pisses Mankey off enough to start their Thrash attack. Mankey cops Ash’s hat, and taunts him. Team Rocket enters the picture, James kicks Mankey and starts another rampage, kicking Jessie’s ass and damaging her perfection. A skirmish ensues and the gang tries to leave, Ash spots his hat and Pikachu tries to get it but accidently stares at Primeape’s mug. Brock takes his shot at psychology and gets his bell rung. Primeape follows Ash into the mountains, and his friends chase after them. Ash falls into a Team Rocket pitfall, but with Oak’s words in the back of his head, Ash gets the nerve to catch Primeape with the Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander special. Charmander’s Rage attack kicks in, and that tail fire is burning bright. Ash catches Primeape, and gives Team Rocket a little pummeling for good measure. We see Celadon city in the distance!
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Mankey/Primeape, what a beast.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Koffing, hold in your farts bruh.
One thing I learned: You can’t be a good trainer without catching more Pokémon.
Pikachu-o-meter: 4/5, normal episode for our favorite electric mouse, but he got that hat back.
Best Quote: “It’s not the hat, it’s the principle!” -Ash
Best Scene: Charmander’s Flamethrower and Pikachu’s hat grab.
