Summary: ooooo that smell, can’t you smell that smell? The perfume shop draws our heroes inside, and Brock’s nose is connected to his jugular. Pikachu and Misty go in to buy some perfume, and Ash barges in and insults the shop owner and her associates. Ash gets kicked out, but is denied access to the Celadon City Gym, gets the scarlet X mark. Meanwhile, Team Rocket schemes to get the secret formula for Celadon perfume. They run into a Gloom, who paralyzes Team Rocket, who get the X and the boot. Ash and Team Rocket conspire, which leads to ash dressing like a little princess. The little princess enters as a student to the gym while Team Rocket go off to steal the formula. Pikachu exposes Ash, after Erika explains that Gloom is armed with a natural defense mechanism. Ash challenges Erika. Tangela stuns Bulbasaur, and Ash throws Charmander out there, and our favorite lizard rocks Weepinbell. Gloom stuns Charmander, and Pikachu steps up to battle Gloom. Tam Rocket steals the formula, and the gym starts to burn faster than a tinder box. There is some real girl-power on display, they are some dedicated firefighters. Gloom is trapped inside; Ash runs in to save them. Gloom changed its scent because it feels safe with Ash, who saves our favorite blue plant. Ash gets badge #5, and is one step closer to the Pokémon League.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Ash, he got a badge!
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Weepinbell, this is the second time a Weepinbell as been the worst, come on writers you have to give our favorite bell a better showing.
One thing I learned: Fire burns grass.
Pikachu-o-meter: 4/5-Exposing Ash is a dirty move, but good friends call out their friends when they step out of line.
Best Quote: “Heart-warming, but what’s that smell. Your Pokémon skills are stinking up this gym even more than Gloom.” -Jessie
Best Scene: Pikachu with his little water bucket.
