Summary: Our gang is still in the Safari Zone, Ash tries to catch a Chansey, and once again our friends are under arrest for Pokémon poaching. The real poachers are in another area of the park, and Jenny breaks land speed records. Meowth and Team Rocket have their eye on some beefy mothers, those cool Kangaskhan. These moms are pissed, and they rampage past Officer Jenny, into Team Rockets net, but wait, who is this Kangaskhan boy with the blue hair and the boomerang?! Is that Tarzan’s music? No, it’s just Tommy. He saves his momma, and after he leaves, his human parents (who pulled a Michael Jackson on the balcony) come to find him after five years! Now the gang is working for the parents, they find Tommy but he does not know what a human is, his childhood trauma has shut his mind off from remembering his parents. A clunk on the head washes this away, and I just realized Tommy is voiced by the guy who does Gary Oak.. its uncanny and disturbing. Anyways, Tommy jumps into action to stop another heist, now Team Rocket has heavy artillery. Ash throws out his daily 4X4 (his three starters plus Pikachu), but this machine is unstoppable. Tommy’s parents come to save the days by suicide-diving into the machine, a real heartbreaking moment. Luckily, Tommy’s parents are alive, and they decide to live with Tommy amongst the Kangaskhan.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Tommy, the best qualities of his parents and the Kangaskhan.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Team Rocket, they went too far this episode. Honorable Mention to Tommy’s father and mother, this is straight up negligence, come on this dude is in one Safari Zone, its an enclosed space, find him.
One thing I learned: Kangaskhan are some real momma bears.
Pikachu-o-meter: 2/5, didn’t do much today.
Best Quote: “You people? Or Pokémon?” -Tommy
Best Scene: Tommy’s childhood memories of the Kangaskhan song.
