Pokemon 36: The Bridge Bike Gang

Pokemon Company

Airdate: December 2nd, 1997

Summary: Our heroes are out of the jungle, and in the city. The Cycling Road is up and ready to go.. almost. Our friends need to go to SunnyTown, so they grab some bicycles to take the path to the other side. Is that Misty’s I want my bike back music?! They go to the Pokémon Center to think up a plan, but Nurse Joy has one, she will give them bikes if they take some medicine to a sick Shellder. Our crew is moving along just nice until some snotty bike gang holds them up. Somewhere before or after Pokémon Tech, Team Rocket lived near this bridge, or something, what’s up with that? Brock hits on one of the leaders of the gang, who says, “bike gangs over hoes,” Brock is devastated. Ash and Misty battle Chopper and Tyra, Golem vs. Bulbasaur and Charmander, Psyduck vs. Cloyster. Team Rocket come on the scene, and it looks like they are returning to old friends with some unicycle style. Jessie and James share their embarrassing bike stories, James was the only adult still in training wheels, yikes. The cops come in time to stop the gang from attacking our friends, suddenly the weather gets bad while our friends move to get the medicine to SunnyTown. Without their police escort, our friends weather the storm while the gang challenges Team Rocket to show them how to ride in the rain. If you like Pina Coladas, and riding bikes in the rain, if you liking jumping off drawbridges, and falling flat in the sea. Our friends make it across with an escort from the Bridge Bike Gang.

Best Trainer/Pokémon: Charmander, great work vs. Golem.

Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Team Rocket, embarrassing and disappointing.

One thing I learned: Team Rocket has a long and checkered past.

Pikachu-o-meter: 3/5, average episode, a bit of a Pika-slump lately.

Best Quote: “They’re even starting to cheer for our side” -Chopper

Best Scene: Ash laughing at Psyduck, and Psyduck backing that caboose into Cloyster.
