Airdate: July 16th, 1998
Summary: Our gang is walking through the forest towards Cinnabar Island, when a thief runs through their path. Pikachu is at first scared of the gun, but after some Growlithe apprehend the gun from the thief, Pikachu shocks it. This was a demonstration after all, oops. The gang gets to lodge with the police and Officer Jenny, while Team Rocket plans to steal all of the fire pups. Ash decides to pump Pikachu up, and decides to enter it into some police training. Officer Jenny gets Ash and Pikachu up at 4am, and starts them on an obstacle course, what a wake-up call. Ash, Pikachu, Growlithe, and Officer Jenny climb under barbed wire, but Ash can’t scale the wall. He doesn’t quit, because he feels that Pikachu isn’t as tough as Growlithe. The Growlithe-mobile rides into camp, and Team Rocket has a brand-new bag. They possess a machine which can imitate Officer Jenny’s voice, and give the gang some laughing gas, thus rendering Officer’s Jenny voice unrecognizable. This show has temporarily turned into a crossover between Scooby-doo and Alvin & the Chipmunks. Anyways, Team Rocket starts commanding the Growlithe, arresting Officer Jenny, but Pikachu steps up to stop Team Rocket. Pikachu isn’t fooled by Team Rocket’s Ash voice, what a sweet moment. Team Rocket sics the Growlithe on Pikachu, but this mouse as electricity to spare, what a powerhouse. Jigglypuff steps in just in time to… only sing one part of its song, maybe it has found its voice finally. One Growlithe realizes who Officer Jenny really is, and our pups turn on Team Rocket. Brock lives out his Officer Jenny fantasies, while she laughs at him. What a sad boy.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Growlithe, lots of wholesome Growlithe content lately.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Ash, if only for asking Pikachu to attack a dude with a gun, come on bruh.
One thing I learned: Pikachu is really an amazing pal, having to deal with Ash’s shit all the time.
Pikachu-o-meter: 5/5, love a Pikachu workout montage, and this is the beginning of the Pikachu saving Togepi gag, comedy gold.
