Airdate: September 10th, 1998
Summary: Jigglypuff, our no so favorite pink friend, is dropping Pokémon left and right as they walk down the road. They get hit with a kettle, and go investigate the crash. Ash and the gang take an ice cream break, Ash sloppily double-fists a Neapolitan and vanilla cone. A Clefairy shows up with a flower on its head, and the gang chase after it. They forget their bags and Clefairy’s accomplices pilfer the loot. Apparently, everyone’s stuff is being stolen, including a baseball player’s bat. Oswald, another weirdo scientist obsessed with aliens (see, Clefairy and the Moon Stone), pops in and says aliens are stealing these objects. Oswald and the crew locate a saucer, but it’s really Team Rocket in disguise, they are able to get Pikachu from the gang without a struggle. They see the saucer is lifted by a crane, and Pidgeotto cuts it down, what a criminally underrated bird. Clefairy takes off with Pikachu, and blocks Team Rocket with a well-placed Reflect. Jigglypuff joins the chase of Clefairy, with a score to settle. They traverse the underground, and end up in a space ship the Clefairy are building with all of the stolen items. Jiggly and the gang confront Clefairy, and Jigglypuff absolutely wrecks the Clefairy. It turns out, Clefairy stole her mic, a slap fight ensues. Oswald starts messing around with the controls, and the timer goes off. Pikachu lights up the ship and propels it towards a takeoff. Pikachu breaks the glass it has been kept in, and Bulbasaur helps get our heroes to the roof of a building safely. Clefairy and Oswald end up flying into space, only to land near a lake.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Jigglypuff, the one episode I don’t hate this pink problem.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: The Clefairy, they are the clear antagonists here, even when they try and get home it is at the expense of everyone in the town.
One thing I learned: Don’t mess with Jiggly.
