Pokemon 65: Holiday Hi-Jynx

Pokemon Company

Airdate: October 5th, 1998

Summary: Jessie is not feeling Santa Claus, but she doesn’t catch Santa… she catches James. It’s just a trap, but these ties run deep. Jessie felt like she got spurned by Santa, and has been a war path ever since. It turns out it was really a Jynx. Jynx runs into Ash and the gang, and…. Charmander.. huh.. we have entered a time warp. These episodes take us back in time, before Charmander copped an attitude. Anyways, it looks like Jynx got separated from Santa Claus, and it is using its psychic power to show how it got separated. Team Rocket spots Jynx, who is trying to kiss the whole crew, and decides to follow them. Ash and Misty bring their water Pokémon out to pull a raft to the North Pole, including Staryu, HYUUUUUUUUUUU!!! When the Pokémon get tired, Ash tries to pull them but loses steam quickly. Out of nowhere, someone talks to him, it’s a Lapras. Lapras saves Ash and the crew, while taking them to the North Pole. Team Rocket confront Ash and the gang, Jynx, and Lapras by sending a rocket net while stealing Jynx. Apparently Jynx are elves in Pokémon land, and Santa actually puts in some hard work stuffing his bags. Jessie realizes she made a mistake, and blackmails Santa. Also, Jessie was a little kid ten years ago… so she is supposed to be somewhere between 20-22… I would think she is at least 25, this episode really messes with the show bible. Team Rocket steals the toys, even after Jynx gives Jessie her childhood doll. Santa’s Jynx use their psychic power to get all of the presents back. Santa heads off to deliver toys.

Best Trainer/Pokémon: Lapras, what a great Pokémon, one of the best.

Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Jessie, she took her grudge way too far.

One thing I learned: You can always trust a Lapras, and Santa.

Pikachu-o-meter:  2/5, a weak Pokémon episode.

Best Quote: “If you wanna thank me just don’t kiss me” -Ash

Best Scene: Jessie’s memories of Christmas.
