Summary: Ash dreams of Pokémon League success, but all he gets is a mime who sucks his face with a vacuum. Meanwhile, Mewtwo breaks out of Team Rocket’s lab, and Giovanni snaps at Team Rocket, but they interpret it as a vote of confidence. Ash drops by the lab with Brock and Misty, but Gary Oak is chilling at grandpa’s house. Professor Oak tells our boys that the league is at the Indigo Plateau, and that Ash needs to train for the tournament. Team Rocket tries to trick Ash into an interview, but he isn’t home and Mimey sweeps them away, Gary and Ash have a Krabby-measuring contest, oh boys. Professor Oak and Togepi are straight munching. Professor Oak and the crew go to view their Pokémon in his lab, and again Ash and Gary go at it. Professor Oak validates both of them for their styles. Team Rocket runs into a hoard of Beedrill in Oak’s lab. Professor Oak gives Ash the rundown on his daily schedule, he might have the best job in the world. Brock spaces out on Suzie, and Muk jumps on Professor Oak. Ash and Gary have some form of respect for each other after realizing they have similar goals, and they reunite to stop Team Rocket from stealing Pokémon from the laboratory. Ash’s Tauros runs Team Rocket over, and Ash gets some props.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Tauros, bulls on parade!
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Team Rocket, these sad sacks were at the wrong place at the wrong time.
One thing I learned: Ash has a lot to work to do, but he can get by with a little help from his friends.
Pikachu-o-meter: 2/5, ehh.
Best Quote: “I’m not saying you’re a bad trainer, it’s just you don’t have what it takes to beat me” -Gary
