Summary: Ash is back in Pallet Town, Pikachu wakes Ash up with a shocking start. Delia wants Ash to garden, but he escapes just in time with brock and Misty to avoid her litany of chores. Ash and crew end up at the Xanadu nursery, where Brock spots another beautiful girl. Misty says she is beautiful, and Ash balks at this. They run into Potter, love the name man, and Ash shows him his Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur is in flower heaven, and Potter tells Brock about Florinda, another banger Pokémon, kudos. Bulbasaur is sniffing some good good, and is getting a little too comfortable with Ash’s leg. Bulbasaur gets its fix, and Florinda rushes in to help Bulbasaur get off the sauce. Gloom brings Bulbasaur into the house, and Bulbasaur develops a plant crush on Gloom, and starts making the moves. Meanwhile, Brock vows to help Florinda evolve gloom into a Vileplume. She explains she tried a Leaf Stone, but it was a fake, as explained by Professor Oak who swoops in unannounced. The fake is made by Team Rocket, and Florinda loses her confidence. Brock says he will find a Leaf Stone, and then backtracks to promise that they will find Team Rocket, who are stealing plants. The gang confronts Team Rocket, who throws a stun bomb on the crew, and they take Pikachu. Florinda steps up to the plate, and her and Gloom get Pikachu back under Brock’s request. Gloom steps up the plate, and battles Arbok and Weezing, using its Double Team (dope animation by the way), and to confuse their poison Pokémon. Florinda apparently trained Gloom like a champ, and it blasts Team Rocket with Solarbeam. Gloom and Bulbasaur may have a future, but it looks like Florinda left Brock in the cold for Potter. Brock has some serious sad boy hours… cheer up buddy.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Gloom, you did it buddy, you kicked Team Rocket’s ass.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Florinda, I know she got better but she was helpless almost the whole episode. She was funny but needed to be more confident for her Gloom.
One thing I learned: The creators of Pokémon love Gloom, two Gloom-centric episodes in the span of 70 episodes.
Pikachu-o-meter: 4/5, love a good Pikachu electric wake-up.
Best Quotes: “Misty, please, only one of us can hallucinate at a time” -Ash
“Don’t worry Brock, you will find plenty of girls to reject you” -Ash (our man is on a roll)
Best Scene: Meowth rolling that herbal medicine.
