Summary: The gang is invited to the movie premier, and they fantasize of glitz and glamour. Team Rocket dreams of Hollywood, but Meowth is not happy to be returning there. Meowth starts his story, he was a little baby Meowth stealing baseballs, but an American movie brought him to Hollywood. Delia pulls a Marilyn Monroe, sort of, but Hollywood is now a dump, is this a social commentary? Deep Pokémon, deep. It seems like the movie is a C-movie, a real dump. Meowth says he has business to take care of, and remembers the days stealing food from kitchens, before he ran into a gang of Meowth and Persian who recruit Meowth for their gang. Meowth finds a true love, Meowsie, who challenges Meowth to be human. From that point on, Meowth worked to make himself human. He eventually starts reading and speaking English (Japanese?), he starts singing a beautiful ballad. His first words from his picture book were Rocket and Marriage. He presents himself to Meowsie, but she doesn’t think he is good enough, calling him a freak. Meowth joined Team Rocket to make himself rich for Meowsie, and Meowth runs into his old gang. They meet in the alley, and Meowth gets an offer to join Persian’s gang. They have Meowsie! This cat was abandoned by her owner, and took in by Persian’s gang. Meowth wants to fight for Meowsie, and Team Rocket try a new song before helping Meowth. Meowth saves Meowsie, but she wants Persian. The movie was a flop, but the episode was memorable!
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Meowth, hands down one of the most touching stories of the anime.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Meowsie, she broke our young Meowth’s heart, even if that is her prerogative.
One thing I learned: Nothing is good enough for Meowsie.
Pikachu-o-meter: 2/5, out of deference to Meowth’s episode.
Best Quote: “This sure ain’t the town it used to be” -Meowth
Best Scene: Jessie and James on the ladders taking with megaphones.
