Summary: Ash and the crew get stuck in an elevator, and he meets a guy named Richie who looks a little like Ash. He handles Pikachu well, I wonder why? Team Rocket dress up as Pokémon League officials, everyone gives them their Pokémon, and drive off. Ash and Richie run after Team Rocket, jumping in front of their van. Team Rocket drives off of the road, and James is knocked out. Ash and Richie camp out for the night, and will look for Team Rocket in the morning. Ash and Richie count stars, connecting them to make Pokémon, these two new buddies make plans to be the greatest trainers in the world. Richie and Ash sneak into Team Rocket’s car, and they start the car to get rid of Richie and Ash. Richie put stars on his Poke Balls, so he knows whose Pokémon they are. Ash starts throwing random Pokémon out, but none of them are his, one kid brought a Magikarp to the Pokémon League… rough. Pikachu sniffs out Ash’s Pokémon, and he gets Bulbasaur. Richie pulls out Zippo, his Charmander who opens the cabin to Richie and Ash, and Richie’s Pikachu, Sparky, confuses Team Rocket. Pikachu and Sparky blow Team Rocket out of the vehicle, but they are rolling off of the cliff. Pidgeotto and Richie’s Butterfree named Happy, two criminally underrated Pokémon, Whirlwind Ash and Richie to safety. Ash and Richie return the Pokeballs, but find out they are facing off in the next round!
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Zippo, what a Slash attack from a Charmander.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Every single kid who just handed their Pokémon in Team Rocket’s bag, including Ash and Richie.
One thing I learned: James has a special Turn attack, pretty cool.
Pikachu-o-meter: 4/5, sniffing out Bulbasaur is a decent skill.
Best Quote: “We have finally snatched that sniveling squirts precious Pikachu” -Jessie
Best Scene: Ash and Richie looking at the stars.
