Airdate: April 29th, 1999
Summary: Lapras and co. head to the Seven Grapefruit Islands. They approach the beach and see some grapefruits, decide to pick one, but get accosted by the protector of the island, Ruby. Apparently, they have had a grapefruit thief in their midst. Ruby gets alerted to more thievery, even the branches are chomped. It looks like a Snorlax is heavy munching on some grapefruit. The gang tries to devise a way to stop the Snorlax, their first plan is to pick all of the grapefruit quick enough to avoid Snorlax eating them. Ash uses Bulbasaur, Misty uses Staryu (HYUUUUU!!!!), but Snorlax is too fast. Bulbasaur tries to stop Snorlax but it ends up cutting Snorlax’s grapefruit for it. The gang thinks Snorlax will just sleep after eating so much, but it is still hungry. This Snorlax knows how to swim! This munching fiend knows no bounds, they are on that Grapefruit Method like nobody’s business. Staryu, Squirtle, and Goldeen try and battle Snorlax, Misty calls Goldeen back before Snorlax eats some seafood. Misty tries to send Togepi out to use Metronome, but this egg doesn’t blow things up or teleport on command. Team Rocket takes their shot but they are no match for this munching Pokémon. Psyduck chokes on a grapefruit, while Pikachu tries to shock Snorlax to no avail. James tries to hypnotize James, but he falls under his own trap. Ash tries to give Snorlax a massage, but it won’t go to sleep. Snorlax is still on the take, but it seems like Jigglypuff might be the answer to the Snorlax problem. They rush to set a stage for Jigglypuff, and their song works on Snorlax. Ash attacks Snorlax before it falls asleep, and catches it. New tries are growing where Snorlax ate, and now the fields are replenished.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Snorlax, the dude just wanted to munch on some fruit, can you blame them? They look good.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: I don’t care if they saved the day, the minute I saw Jigglypuff I knew it was the worst.
One thing I learned: Snorlax is a big fan of the Grapefruit Method.
