Summary: Ash and the crew are sailing towards Pummelo Island when they spot a Dragonite. Ash is verified and the registrar explains that the battle is a full battle, and that Ash will use six Pokémon for his battle. The registrar explains that the Dragonite they saw is Drake’s, and that nobody has ever beaten Drake. Team Rocket shows up after Drake wonders if anyone will ever beat him. Dragonite blasts Team Rocket with a Hyper Beam. Everyone gets their attacks off to wake Snorlax up, but it won’t wake up until it is hungry again. Ash calls Prof. Oak to get his Tauros, this bovine is bouncing! Team Rocket hear of the Orange League battle between Ash and Drake, the town is buzzing. The battle begins, Ash meets Drake and learns that after a certain number of battles there are field changes. Ash can switch Pokémon but Drake can’t. Drake starts with a Ditto, and Ash brings Pikachu out. Ditto transforms and now its Pikachu vs. Pikachu, these electric mice go blow for blow. Pikachu falls, but will not give up. Ash stays cool under pressure, but Ditto keeps dodging attacks. Ditto uses its tail as a lightning rod, and charges with a Quick Attack and knocks Ditto out with an electric Tail Whip. Drake sends out his Onix, Ash counters with his Squirtle. Squirtle is slow on the draw, while Onix burrows beneath the battlefield. Onix whacks Squirtle, binds it, but Squirtle Withdraws and uses Hydro Pump. Next, Drake sends out Gengar, Ash sends out Tauros. Tauros lands a Fissure attack, but Gengar’s Confuse Ray gets to Tauros. Ash recalls our favorite bovine, and brings out Lapras who hits Gengar with a Water Gun-Ice Beam combo, but Gengar’s Night Shade attack collides what will happen next?!
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Ash, he really started this battle hot, he has grown.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Onix, it did well but it got whacked fairly easily after an early advantage.
One thing I learned: Type advantage isn’t everything, and turtles are slow.
Island Monitor: Unnamed Island -> Pummelo Island
Best Quote: “The beginner’s luck factor might work” -Tracey
Best Scene: The crowd realizing Ash is a real factor.
