Airdate: October 21st, 1999
Summary: The gang stumbles on a young girl and her Chikorita. The girl and her Chikorita battle a wild Rattata, and catch it. The girl narrates the entire scene, and her and Chikorita both have Team Electabuzz gear on. The girl jumps at them with mad fury, only to admire Pikachu and beg for them to shock her. Casey, the girl, formally meets our friends and tells them of her love for yellow Pokémon. Ash insults the Electabuzz baseball team, Brock and Misty warn Ash to not be too hard on Casey when she asks Ash for a battle. Ash goes on about his prowess, and throws out his Charizard who quickly dispatches her Pidgey. Rattata and Chikorita lose in similar fashion. Casey runs away in shame, and remembers how her family and town are rooting for her. Casey talks about her determination, and Team Rocket start their con game to get Pikachu. Casey is convinced by Casey that she should challenge him in a rematch on her turf, where Team Rocket has set up traps. It’s Chikorita vs. Pikachu, and our favorite green leaf monster gives Pikachu a Sweet Scent. Pikachu’s attacks are not working against Chikorita, and a machine pops up in the middle of the batter’s box. It starts swinging on Pikachu and Chikorita, hitting them into the waiting hands of Team Rocket. Ash decides to fight back which emboldens Casey, even as he gets hit with a baseball. Casey insists on using a bunch of Yogi Berra quotes, while Bulbasaur and Rattata start sending Team Rocket to the showers. Pikachu and Chikorita finish them off, and Team Rocket strikes out. Casey and Ash become friends, maybe someday they will meet again.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Ash, he seemed like an ass bringing out Charizard, but everyone has to learn at the School of Hard Knocks.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Casey, she has a lot to learn, and needs to take it step by step like Ash did.
One thing I learned: If you want to con someone, con a baseball fan, I guess.
