Summary: Our friends are walking through a forest, when they notice Heracross sucking the sap from trees, with some trees having no leaves left. Misty dusts off her old bug Pokémon prejudice for this single-horned beetle. A ranger named Woodrough walks up to them, and he explains the circle of life and ecosystem of the forest, with Heracross and Butterfree working together for the sap. This is another environmentalist episode, gotta love it. A bunch of Pinsir are invading the Heracross’ space, but the Heracross are too scared to fight the Pinsir. One Heracross is brave enough to protect a Butterfree, and Ash helps them out with his Bulbasaur. Pikachu shocks some of the Pinsir, and gives a Thunder which sends the gang scurrying away. Heracross gets a little to grateful and starts sucking Bulbasaur’s bulb. The Pinsir and Heracross used to have their own forests, split by a river, but that isn’t the case anymore. Ash his friends go with Woodrough to help solve the problem. This is getting into Scooby-Doo territory, Woodrough and the gang start throwing out theories about what is going on. Heracross helps the gang cross the river that divides Heracross and Pinsir’s forests with a log bridge. Team Rocket show up and explain that they made a mechanical Pinsir that is extracting the sap in Pinsir’s forest. They did this because of their food shortage, just get some 9-5 jobs fool. The Pinsir machine rears its ugly head, but Heracross steps up to take it down. The Pinsir are back where they belong, and Heracross decides to join Ash.
