Pokemon 128: The Chikorita Rescue

Airdate: December 16^th, 1999

Summary: Our friends are on the mountain road to Violet City when they spot a feisty Chikorita. Chikorita is insulted by Ash’s presumption that it is a trainer’s Chikorita. Ash sends Bulbasaur out, and it take scare of Chikorita’s Razor Leaf. Ash tries to catch it, but it gives Bulbasaur a Vine Whip after avoiding Ash’s Poke Ball. Ash chooses Charizard, who Chikorita trips in time to give Ash a Flamethrower. Chikorita sends some Razor Leaves and A Vine Whip which hooks it to Charizard before they slam into the mountain. Ash tries to care for Chikorita who is hurt now, so they head to the nearest Pokémon Center. They get Chikorita to the Center, and Nurse Joy tells them about the Chikorita Fight Club situation going on. Team Rocket busts in the Center dressed as ER doctors and steal’s Chikorita. Ash rushes after Chikorita, but left all of his Poke Bals at the Center. Team Rocket proposition Chikorita, but Ash barges in with his own motto. Chikorita escapes the cabin with Pikachu, only to be caught by Team Rocket. They escape, and get camouflaged by a snowball. Ash thinks this is all fun, but Chikorita isn’t having it. Chikorita runs from Ash, and now falls as night approaches. Ash and Pikachu start a fire, but all he can think about is Chikorita. Ash leaves Pikachu to find Chikorita, but all he finds are a couple of Nidoran until he falls off a small cliff and finds Chikorita. My favorite Pokémon leaps into Ash’s arms and he takes her to the fire. Team Rocket try and take Chikorita one last time, but this Pokémon doesn’t fuck around. Chikorita chooses Ash as its partner, and our crew has another friend. 

Best Trainer/Pokémon: Chikorita, what a fighter. 

Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Team Rocket, again what’s with trying to steal baby or injured Pokémon. 

One thing I learned: Ash and Chikorita have the same spirit. 

Who is that Pokémon?: Quagsire, a slippery boy, not one of my favorites.
