Airdate: February 17th, 2000
Summary: Our friends are tired and thirsty, once again. Brock tells them of a place close to where they are, Bloomingvale. A young woman is working on a drain pipe, and she offers our gang some water. This place is a solar haven, and Sonrisa has a bevy of Sunflora. One of them has been frowning lately, which is a problem because there is a Sunflora Festival. Ash and the gang plan to help the Sunflora smile, while Team Rocket decides to enter the festival themselves to win some ramen noodles. Team Rocket steals a Sunflora, while Meowth was left at the scene of the crime. Meowth goes into the gang’s custody, and make Meowth translate the Sunflora’s issues. Sunny just wants to play with Cyrus’ Sunflora. Team Rocket gets Meowth to dress up as a Sunflora, and the festival starts. Cyrus’ Sunflora is huge, Brock has a hunch that this sunflower is juiced. The judges are perplexed by Meowth’s rendition of Sunflora, and think it is unique. Snubbull snuffs out Meowth, what a perceptive dog. Team Rocket counters this embarrassment by sending an intense amount of sunlight to make Sunflora woozy. This is definitely an environmental episode, I’m not sure what the message is. Chikorita gets jealous of Pikachu when the gang push back against Team Rocket, but it works out this time as Pikachu destroys their solar mirrors. The Sunflora combine to use a Solarbeam which ruins Team Rocket. Sunrisa and Sunflora win the festival! Ash tries to setup Sunrisa as as online pen pal, that ain’t happening. Snubbull is on the Team Rocket trail.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Snubbull, this dog is the anti-Jigglypuff.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Meowth, horrible disguise, worse performance.
One thing I learned: Size doesn’t matter.
