Summary: Chikorita battles a Raticate, a tough matchup, but this grass Pokémon doesn’t quit. Chikorita hits Raticate with a Razor Leaf, and avoids a return to its ball. Ash gets mad at Chikorita, but it’s just jealous of Pikachu. Chikorita is not having a good dinner after the battle ends in a draw, and Psychology Nurse Joy shows up. Nurse Joy offers up an explanation of Chikorita’s problem, she is jealous. Nurse Joy suggests that Chikorita stay in the green house, but Chikorita escapes out of her ball and into the wild grass. Pikachu follows but Chikorita sleeps in some old rundown buildings. Chikorita is surrounded by some scary fighting Pokémon, led by a Primeape who she quickly dispatches to be the leader of the new Fighting Pokémon gang. Chikorita relishes its new position of power. The security camera shows Chikorita leaving, and Nurse Joy explains that she is trying to get attention. Ash vows to work on his relationship with Chikorita, and Brock gets pulled off by Misty when accosting Nurse Joy, man this season has Brock at his creepiest. Chikorita and Pikachu are friends not foes, and Ash has a stronger team and bond because of it.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Chikorita, it was having a moment but Ash wasn’t listening or noticing.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Primeape, this monkey got whacked, even if it did redeem itself.
One thing I learned: Sometimes a Pokémon just needs some love and care.
Who is that Pokémon?: Hoppip, eh, but Jumpluff is fun.
Best Quote: “One mental case at a time please” -Misty
Best Scene: Chikorita escaping the greenhouse, I love that music.
