Summary: Our friends are walking in the forest when they spot a Gligar. Ash wants to catch the Gligar (foreshadowing…..) but the gang falls into a pit that Team Rocket fills with water, trying to drown them. This show took a dark turn. Gligar Man and his Gligar show up to help our friends, and gets chastised for his long underwear and lack of recognition. Misty gives him credit, and Gligar dispenses of Team Rocket. Gligar Man rescues Togepi, but makes an ungraceful fall, this man is a little too old for the gig. He has a cool bike though. A girl named Latoya with an orange scarf bikes in, inquiring about Gligar Man. She thinks Gligar Man is disillusioned, and she obviously knows his true identity. Ash turns on Brock when he pushes the love envelope to an annoying extreme. Ash just wants to know who Gligar Man is. Our friends enter the Gligar Man show, and Latoya is at the counter. Ash is interested about Gligar Man, and her dad shows up with all the facts on Gligar Man (this man is Gligar Man). The man shows our friends a Gligar Man movie, with an idealized version of himself. Togepi spots the man, and calls him out in its own adorable way for being Gligar Man. The gang is quick to spot their disguise, one of the only times they do this, they have to turn these powers on Team Rocket once and again. Team Rocket spots the Gligar Man conspiracy, and Jessie is out for blood and pits Metapod costumes. Latoya recounts that Gligar Man was made for her profits, but eventually propped up his ego. He shows the gang his secret lab, and laments that Gligar Man will fade, Brock has plans to continue the line but gets rejected per usual. The store is under attack, Gligar Man and Ash get stuck with robo-Spinaraks’s web, but Latoya in her Gligirl costume help Ash get unstuck. Gligar attacks Team Rocket with its swift attack, and Pikachu sends them the Spinarak machine against Team Rocket. Gligar Man realized his future is in Latoya, and the family business is saved.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Gligar, this Pokémon is far more equipped than his counterpart, and that’s alright.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Team Rocket, they went to far with the drowning thing.
One thing I learned: Superheroes can wear capes, and carry AARP cards at the same time.
Who is that Pokémon?: Mareep, this is a top-5 Johto line, and top-20 Gen 2 Pokémon.
Best Quote: “Of course I’m a superhero, look at this action pose!” -Gligar Man
Best Scene: Brock getting his heart broken.
