Summary: Our friends are off to Goldenrod City, and they are walking through a beach town. They meet a boy named Benny who is raising a Wobbuffet, but wants to trade it. He tells our friends about the Pokémon swap meet. Jessie and James are pissed off at Victrebell and Lickitung, and are happy to hear of the swap meet. Apparently, this town is a beach side Pamplona, where Tauros run through the streets and battle each other. Ash calls Prof. Oak so that Ash can get his Tauros, but he has to send back a Pokémon. Ash sends his Heracross back and says hello to his Tauros. Ash rushes down to the stadium and sends his Tauros out against the winner of the Tauros battles in the Stadium. Ash’s Tauros wins. At the swap meet kids are trading away, and Benny wants Tauros for his Wobbuffet. Ash isn’t interested in that, but want to help Benny trade his Pokémon. Team Rocket starts a phony trading machine, which takes trainer’s Pokémon and sends in empty Poke Balls. Everyone wants Misty’s Psyduck, and suddenly she has an affection for it. Ash and Brock start selling Wobbuffet like a used car, and James is almost duped by the Magikarp Salesman from Season 1. I love this subplot, always and forever. Benny almost gets a Stantler, but Jessie gets flung into the trade machine and accidently gets Benny’s Wobbuffet for her Lickitung. Meowth runs into the gang with news that the town is onto them. Team Rocket almost escapes the scene, but Ash and the crew confront them to get the Poke Balls back. Ash sends Chikorita against Wobbuffet, and learns about its Counter and Mirror Coat attacks. This patient Pokémon uses Chikorita’s attacks against it, but eventually the gang preservers and sends Team Rocket flying. They return the balls, and they find out that Benny got a Lickitung. Our gang says goodbye to Benny.
