Airdate: June 15th, 2000
Summary: Our friends leave the Pokémon Center and run into a kid who got beat bad by someone near the mountain bridge. Team Rocket plan to tail the twerps, and Wobbuffet is still trying to establish itself on the team. Brock meets a girl named Micky, and warns her of a tough trainer, who challenges him to a match. Micky is obviously the tough Pokémon trainer, and she throws out her Skarmory against Brock’s Vulpix. Vulpix uses its strongest fire attacks, but Skarmory is too tough for Brock. Micky wants another match, and Ash uses Cyndaquil. Cyndaquil has a problem with its flame, tries to use its Flamethrower and by the time it heats up Skarmory almost hits it with a Steel Wing. However, before Skarmory can hit Team Rocket grabs both of them with their balloon. Skarmory sends them flying, and Micky invites Ash and the gang to stay with them. Micky talks about how her and Skarmory do everything together, so Ash wakes up early to train with Cyndaquil. He wants Cyndaquil to have its flame start better, and asks Cyndaquil to Tackle him hard. Ash tries to power his flame up to encourage Cyndaquil, but they are just beginning. Cyndaquil takes more pride in its agility and defense, getting faster and faster. They use this speed when they are running from Beedrill, which forces Cyndaquil to quickly power up its flame and send them flying. Ash and Cyndaquil have a cool training montage, where Ash throws sticks in the air for Cyndaquil to burn. Ash decides to battle Skarmory again, using a Smokescreen and Flamethrower combo to keep Skarmory on its toes. Cyndaquil looks good in this battle, and even though Skarmory is tough, Cyndaquil’s Flamethrower proves to be too much for Skarmory after its flame pops off. This Cyndaquil is not fucking around, and proves to be a competent battler with good defensive power. Our friends say goodbye to Micky, who leaves to battle others.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Skarmory, this bird is prolific and a really tough match.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Brock, he misread Micky and then gets pummeled. Come on dude.
One thing I learned: This Cyndaquil has some real guts.
Who is that Pokémon?: Aipom, this Pokémon is fun but I don’t like the design.
