Airdate: September 21st, 2000
Summary: Our friends are walking through the forest when a storm hits. They run into a castle they see on the hill, that has a Zubat knocker. They walk into the castle, and hear someone screaming, so naturally they follow the noise. They think it is a torture chamber, but it’s a clinic for people. They are greeted by a woman with pink hair, Dr. Anna (first or last name?), who uses a Zubat to scan patients. Apparently, when the benefactor of the clinic died they left the castle to Dr. Anna. Brock throws his Zubat out to meet Dr. Anna’s Zubat, and Team Rocket sneaks into the castle. They are frightened by Wobbuffet, what a little trickster. Team Rocket find a feast in the kitchen, but the Ash and Misty run into them. Team Rocket flees the scene, while James almost says “bitching.” Ash sends Pikachu after them, but Dr. Anna warns them of the trap door. Brock and Dr. Anna fall through after Anna. Team Rocket and Dr. Anna/Brock have to find their way out of the maze, and they decide to go together. Dr. Anna has her computer synced up to Zubat’s Supersonic scan. Jessie gets impatient and starts to go into “the unknown,” Wobbuffet follows her into the breach, which wins it some points. Our friends start digging a hole at the exit, and Team Rocket run forward again into the breach, this time Jessie pushes Wobbuffet into a trap. Pineco explodes to open up the exit, while Brock dreams of marrying Dr. Anna. Team Rocket attacks as soon as they get out and Golbat evolves from Zubat after facing Team Rocket. It quickly dispatches Team Rocket, sending it flying. Dr. Anna thinks Golbat is too strong, and it proves that Brock is a good breeder but not a good potential partner.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Brock’s Zubat, bye bye Zubat, hello Golbat.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Brock, he really tried hard for Dr. Anna this episode, wasted effort.
One thing I learned: Jessie secretly likes Wobbuffet.
Who is that Pokémon?: Persian, a very underrated cat, especially in Gen 1 games.
