Summary: An old man is being approached by a Tauros, so Ash stops it in its tracks by using his Bulbasaur, who is able to tangle and put the Tauros to sleep. Apparently, Tauros got spooked by a Beedrill, and its trainer calls it back, while the old man, Kenzo, says he has a job for Ash. He takes them to a Pokémon dojo, where Ash sees a Hitmontop. The old man does not approve of how the heir Shihan, Chigusa, of the dojo is running it, so he has Ash replace her. A man, Shiro, comes to challenge the Shihan of the dojo. Shiro faces Kenzo, Shiro throws out Hitmonlee while Kenzo throws out Machoke, who is just as old as Kenzo. Machoke can’t battle, so Chigusa steps in with her Hitmontop, and uses its Rolling Kick attack. Hitmonlee is able to defend against Hitmontop and knock it off balance. Shiro is about to finish Hitmonlee off when Team Rocket comes in to steal both Pokémon. Team Rocket is able to have some success vs. Hitmonlee, but Bulbasaur and Pikachu send Team Rocket flying with no Pokémon. Kenzo has little faith in Chigusa, so ash decides to train with her and Hitmontop. Bulbasaur helps Hitmontop practice their form and rhythm. It seems that Hitmontop’s problem lies in it showing its hand too quick on the Triple Kick. Chigusa losses confidence, but Hitmontop has its back, and they vow to win. Shiro comes back to challenge Chigusa, and Hitmontop starts to use their Rapid Spin attack while dodging Hitmonlee’s Rolling Kicks, Hitmontop uses a new technique to go faster into their Triple Kick. Hitmonlee loses, and the dojo is Chigusa’s now. Team Rocket shows up in a Meowth tank, but Bulbasaur gets Hitmontop out of its clutches, while Pikachu sends them flying.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Chigusa, she really improved and defended the honor of the dojo.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Kenzo, he was just trying to defend his dojo, but he was over-critical and brought Ash into his family business.
One thing I learned: Ash could have a career in Pokémon performance training.
Who is that Pokémon?: Slowking, you dropped this, king.
Best Quote: “Young people think they are always right” -Kenzo
Best Scene: Hitmontop succeeding in their fight to retain the dojo.
