Airdate: January 25th, 2001
Summary: Ash gets his Pokémon nursed by Nurse Joy, who gives him advice about Noctowl’s Foresight attack. Morty teaches his pupils about Gengar’s Confuse Ray. James uses his Itemfinder which leads Team Rocket to the towers. Ash and Morty start their gym match, while Team Rocket sees them battling. Ash starts with his Noctowl against Morty’s Gastly, the owl misses with a Hypnosis attack, but after a Foresight Gastly is out in the open. Gastly is a bit too fast for Hypnosis, and after a lick attack Ash changes Pokémon. James detects treasure in a room outside of the gym. Ash sends Pikachu out after Gastly has been found, and they hit Gastly with a Quick Attack, but Gastly quickly knocks it out with a Night Shade attack. Ash sends out Cyndaquil. Cyndaquil hits Gastly with a tackle after a failed Lick attack, knocking it out. Morty chooses Haunter, and Misty is surprised Morty chose another ghost type… for some reason. Haunter uses Mean Look which traps Haunter. Cyndaquil uses Swift attack, while Haunter uses Hypnosis, but a Smokescreen wipes it away. Haunter grabs Cyndaquil and gives it a lick, throwing it to the ground. Ash throws Noctowl out, while Gastly gives Team Rocket an illusion which takes it away from reality. Noctowl uses a Foresight-Tackle combo which gets to Haunter. After a Tackle attack Noctowl shakes off Haunter’s Confuse Ray. Noctowl learns how to use Confusion, which it uses to knock Haunter out. Morty sends Gengar out, which comes out of the gate with a strong Shadow Ball attack. Noctowl can’t use Foresight, and Gengar attacks from the shadows. Noctowl sends Confusion through the whole building, hitting Gengar and allowing it to use Foresight. Noctowl uses a Tackle attack, and Ash wins the match and his fourth badge, the Fog Badge!
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Noctowl, this bird single-handedly helped Ash to the victory.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Pikachu, our buddy sucked today, just gotta take it on the chin.
One thing I learned: Don’t mess with ancient relics.
