Pokemon 189: Moving Pictures

Pokemon Company

Airdate: March 1st, 2001

Summary: Our friends are walking through the forest when they spot Todd shooting some Bellossom. Our friends learn from Todd that an Articuno was spotted in the area. Just as they are about to leave they are almost wrecked by a frozen Sunkern. They take it to an inn with an old lady, who gives them tea and cookies, but bores them with a long story of love and loss after Sunkern is defrosted. She talks about her former lover, Marcelo, who left for a job and came back to her, Sophia, but sadly died. Our friends are in tears, and Sophia shows a picture of her and Marcelo, even Team Rocket is in tears. But Sophia was fibbing, as Marcelo came out of the woodwork to explain the fib. Sophia and Marcelo show them the photos of the Sunflora, they are ready for their golden anniversary picture. The South Slope has been cold, no Sunflora are there to take a picture with. Our gang and the old wily couple go to the South Slope, and it starts to snow. Sophia tells a story of her and Marcelo, where Marcelo saves her and the friends cry again, and its another fib. Team Rocket is making snow with a machine, but Todd is enamored with taking shots of Wobbuffet. Our friends can’t find Pikachu in the snow, and even Bulbasaur is bogged down in the snow. Arbok grabs Pikachu, but Sunkern uses Sunny Day, which helps Bulbasaur use Solarbeam to knock Team Rocket away. Ash uses his Sun stone to chance Sunkern into Sunflora, helping the old couple take their picture, but before they snap it a whole cadre of Sunflora show up. Todd sees Articuno fly by.

Best Trainer/Pokémon: Our gang, having to listen to Sophia and Marcelo’s fibs is a bit tiring.

Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Team Rocket, don’t bring the snow like that it’s too cold.

One thing I learned: Old people can be on some wild shit sometimes.

Who is that Pokémon?: Pineco, a very cool Pokémon.

Best Quote: “If you can’t trust a little old lady who can you trust?” -Ash

Best Scene: Bulbasaur’s Solar Beam.
