Summary: Our heroes are set for Bluefoundland where they stumble upon PudgeyPidgey Isle, while Misty sets her eyes on a Corsola and will cross the island, even though it is dangerous, to get one with the help of a guide named Wilbur who takes care of a bunch of fat Pidgey. There is one fit Pidgey named Orville who has a pilots cap on, his goal is to fly as high as possible. Our heroes call Oak and he explains the debate as to whether these fat Pidgey are experiencing evolution or are just fat, fascinating debate. Wilbur has a typical Pokemon flashback where it shows Orville looking at Wilbur’s grandfather’s mural of a famous flying Pidgey who he wants to be like, Orville learning how to fly as a kid, and over whirlpools as a young adult Pidgey. Wilbur hatches a plan to see how high Orville can fly, while Team Rocket hatches a plan to snatch Orville by hel[ing him fly high to prove his worth. Meowth helps Orville talk through his flight. Orville is flying higher and higher after our heroes launch in the balloon, but he flies into a hoard of Fearow who Pikachu shocks to allow Orville to fly even higher. Team Rocket reveals themselves but they have to stop flying higher as it gets too high and cold. However, Orville keeps flying as high as possible without stopping even when its wings are cold. Improbably, Orville flies into space towards the sun, all logic of time and space is lost here but dammit keep flying Orville! Orville flies high enough for him to head back down but dive bombs like a comet right into the Meowth balloon, knocking it unconscious. Orville inspires the island’s Pidgey after his heroic feat to want to fly, let the workout plan commence! Off to Bluefoundland!
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Orville, this Pidgey is one I remembered for over 20 years since I first saw this episode. One of my favorite one episode characters no doubt.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: The fat Pidgey, it is not that they are fat but that they really don’t do anything but eat.
One thing I learned: You can fly as high as your dreams allow.
Who is that Pokémon?: Magmar, eh, I don’t love or hate Magmar but it was always a weird design.
