Pokemon Company
Airdate: September 6, 2001
Summary: Our heroes, per usual, are running late to a ferry and meet a girl named Luca who is researching aquatic life. Our heroes join her and Ash questions what Luca is looking for, she explains that she is researching Water Pokemon like her great grandfather who is looking for the Silver Wing, a clue leading to a mysterious Pokemon. Ash wonders if it is the same one he saw (BINGO!). Ash and Luca dive down with the help of some Magikarp and see Horsea, Tentacruel, etc. as they go to the ship. A Mantine is floating around the ship scaring off all of the Magikarp, so they go above water to regroup, opting to take Pikachu down to scare the Mantine off. As the approach the ship Mantine tries to scare them off but Luca is able to sneak in while Ash distracts them. However, a Remoraid issues a Water Gun on both Ash outside the boat, with another one coming for Luca from inside the ship. Luca and Ash are scared off again. Meanwhile, Team Rocket views all this action, looking to steal the treasure and capture Mantine. Misty and Ash decide to use their full assortment of Water Pokemon, including Corsola and Staryu, HYUUUU. Team Rocket distracts the Mantine so Luca and Ash can enter the ship with Misty, finding baby Remoraid in a nest in the middle of the ship, now we know why they are protecting the ship. Team Rocket crashes into the ship and Luca finds the treasure chest, Team Rocket attacks everyone in sight for the chest and the Mantine. After Mantine frees itself, Ash and Mantine chase after Team Rocket with Pikachu shocking them into orbit. The Silver Wing is acquired, fulfilling Luca’s dream. Luca takes out heroes to Red Rock Isle, the home of the competition.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Mantine and Remoraid, I love two Pokemon living in symbiosis, those are some of my favorites.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Psyduck, from hero to zero this duck doesn’t know that he can’t help in this situation.,
One thing I learned: Raspberry is an acceptable name for a boat.
Who is that Pokémon?: Alakazam, this Pokemon is one of the coolest looking Pokemon, and as the 2026 freshman kids I coach say, he is mogging.
Best Quote: “The I.S.S. Raspberry” -Luca, this is the name of her great grandfather’s ship… who in the writers room came up with that?
