Summary: Our friends are walking along Red Rock Isle to get back to Olivine, but they are starving as they head to Transit Town. Team Rocket sees their tiredness and dig a great hole for them to fall in, which it seems like our heroes fall into, but Team Rocket actually falls into a hole which they dug, so who dug the other? From the title of the episode… must be a Diglett. Rita and Sue come and help our heroes out of the hole with the Diglett, and for this they ask our heroes for help in exchange for a banquet. Rita and Sue bring Team Rocket and our heroes to a huge buffet before the mayor and town council come in and ask our heroes to build them a rocket… no wait.. a racquet… a helper? Suddenly, a band of Diglett thieves comes, dressed like Date Masamune, and warns that they will be there tomorrow to steal all the Diglett. James vows to help the old people because they fed them, and assembles a battle plan for our heroes and Team Rocket. Heroes go out to scout the gang, meanwhile Rocket and the old people dig holes to trap the Diglett gang. Our heroes find that the mayor is the leader of the gang who is in cahoots with Rita and Sue, and learn that their children actually “steal” the Diglett to try and force them into a boujee retirement home even though the old folks want to stay in the village with the Diglett. They act like Diglett thieves because there used to be a group of thieves who left, so now they act like thieves to keep the old people happy and motivated. The next day, our heroes act like they are really hurting the gang to the delight of the old people, the “gang” throws the white flag but Team Rocket comes in, not knowing the illusion, forcing the gang into real danger. The villagers give our heroes a Silver Wing… out of nowhere… jeez! I guess our heroes are off to Yellow Rock Isle to find the mysterious Pokemon linked to this wing.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: James, he is not thankless, and definitely not insensitive!
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Team Rocket, they really wanted to help but ended up being out of the loop of this ruse… I felt bad for them in this episode.
One thing I learned: Diglett can create a forest out of a desert.
Who is that Pokémon?: Sandshrew, anytime I see this pokemon I only think of A.J.’s in Episode 8.
Best Quote: “Who deserves this grub more, the illustrious Team Rocket, or them?” – Meowth with a zinger as usual.
Best Scene: The leader of the gang in the moon looking like Date Masamune!
