Summary: Ash and heroes call to check if they can battle Jasmine in a gym battle, it sounds like she is so they head to the ferry in Transit Town to get to Olivine the next morning but they are too late, so they go and talk to an old man dressed as a fisherman who tells them there is a Hoot-Hoot Express that runs air ferries. Our heroes walk to the Hoot-Hoot Express where they meet Wings Alexander, an old grizzled pilot, who tells them about his glory days. As he is talking about those days, our heroes quickly do all of Wings’ chores so he can more quickly ferry them across the Whirl Islands Region to Olivine. We meet Wings’ Noctowl who is dead asleep, fuel the plane, and off we go! It wouldn’t be a good episode without some drama, so of course our heroes hit a bad pressure system, and wait! IS THAT TEAM ROCKET’s MUSIC! Our favorite evil gang is also struggling with the weather and waves to the airplane to help rescue them, which they do of course. IS THAT JIGGLYPUFF’s MUSIC?!?!? Uh oh, we are in for one. The plane propeller is falling off, Togepi almost falls out of the plane, this is sketchy. Crobat and Bulbasaur step out of the plane to help tie the engine down, but as the plane dips down the other engine is falling off so Bayleef helps secure that one. Poliwhirl and Staryu also help by Water Gunning the plane level again, HYUUUUUU! Jigglypuff sings her song at the literal worst possible time, so everyone relaxes enough to keep the plane in a nosedive, but luckily Noctowl, who was already sleeping has Insomnia, helps by tying string around the hull of the plane. With the help of Ash’s Noctowl and our heroes waking up, the majestic bird steers the ship to safety in the storm. We are finally at Olivine, where our heroes land near the lighthouse and see Jasmine and Janina. Can we have a flipping Pokemon battle already?!?!
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Noctowl, a majestic beast who finally woke up, and stepped up!
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Jigglypuff, always ruining things for our gang in aviation situations.
One thing I learned: Dudes named Wings have swagger.
Who is that Pokémon?: Mankey, I really have liked this Pokemon more and more over the years and I don’t really know why.
Best Quote: “We would like to call a truce and bring an end to this petty rivalry once and for all” -James… If only they could meet kindness with kindness more often, it’s ok they usually get their just desserts.
Best Scene: Noctowl waking up finally and brushing off the proverbial dust.
