Summary: Our heroes are on the road to Blackthorn as they walk through a mountainous volcano, Team Rocket is chilling in the hot springs as they spot the twerps. Our heroes spot Magcargo as Team Rocket is blasted off. A huge Magcargo is blocking the way of our heroes who insult it, causing Magcargo to attack with a Flamethrower. Misty tries to use Staryu, HYUUUUU, but Psyduck comes out instead, but it is not ready for Magcargo’s smoke. Misty then uses Poliwhirl to attack, but Magcargo uses Rock Slide and Body Slam which Poliwhirl dodges before Magcargo uses a tough Flamethrower. After the battle, a little kid named Egan, who was watching the battle, insults Misty’s battling and longs after Magcargo. Egan calls himself the prince of fire, irking Misty and igniting a hot rivalry of Water vs. Fire, where is Volcanion when you need it! Egan and Misty act like they will battle each other but Egan runs off. Another hot spring shoots Team Rocket high into the air. Egan challenges Magcargo to a battle using his Flareon’s Flamethrower to challenge Magcargo, but loses after a tough Body Slam from Magcargo. Egan pushes Flareon to the brink of fainting, allowing our friends to teach Egan a good lesson as Misty laughs in his face, saying that laughter is the best medicine. Team Rocket is back, looking to steal Magcargo, Pikachu, and the hero’s food but another Magcargo uses a Flamethrower on their butt, sending them running. Our heroes feed Egan and Flareon and he explains that he feels bad he pushed Flareon so hard because he gets too excited in the heat of the battle. Misty explains that because Water Pokemon are adaptable she likes that type, and gives that advice to Egan. They spot Magcargo and challenge it to another battle with Flareon, Magcargo uses Rock Slide but Flareon adapts like Water and dodges the rocks. It then attacks Magcargo when it is in its shell and then uses Flamethrower when it is out, allowing Egan to catch a fainted Magcargo to add to his Fire-type repertoire. Team Rocket steps in, and during their motto they get a baseball themed manga-like animation, very cool! They steal the Magcargo in its Pokeball, escaping until Poliwhirl’s Water Gun returns the ball to Egan. Magcargo and Poliwhirl work together with a Flamethrower/Water Gun combo that sends Victreebel and Arbok flying with a Pikachu Thunderbolt to finish the job. Misty says goodbye to Egan, a pair of friends that learned something from each other.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Poliwhirl, it tried its best and freed Magcargo!
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Egan, what a little turd.
One thing I learned: Misty has no respect for braggadocious young boys… reminds me of someone *coughs* Ash.
Who is that Pokémon?: Mantine, meh.
Best Quote: “This place is famous for old geezers. Yes, and they say the Geysers are famous as well” – Meowth and Jessie, beautiful quote here, why do the writers always give them the best lines?
Best Scene: The dual Fire/Water attacks were pretty cool.
