Airdate: July 8th, 1997
Summary: Ash and the gang head to the Vermillion City Harbor and get free tickets to the St. Anne from Team Rocket, dressed as kawaii students, cooooooooool. The gang boards the St. Anne, and this ship is full of Pokémon and their trainers. Ash jumps into battle a gentleman, who flexes with a beautiful woman on his arm and a Raticate to battle. It’s Butterfree versus Raticate, Butterfree wins. Its Magikarp time, the king of all carp, a Pokémon gold mine. James buys the Magikarp, and Brock is suffering from a flattery heatstroke. You gotta trade, everyone should trade, let’s start trading. Bye Butterfree, for now. We see Giovanni and his Persian for the first time, and apparently this ship is a trap! Coming from the woodworks, Team Rocket goons start sucking up Poke Balls. Pikachu and the trainers start fighting back, eliminating Team Rocket, but sinking the ship in the process. What about those Pokémon pyramids?! What a beautiful Butterfree montage. Ash wants Butterfree back, people onboard head for the exits, and our heroes are stuck at sea.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Ash, he organizes that counterstrike like a boss.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Blue-eyed glasses man, he knew this wasn’t a fair trade.
One thing I learned: Don’t trust old men in blue glasses.
