Summary: Our heroes run into a guy named Carter who drives a milk truck, he offers to take them to Ecruteak City in a milk blimp…. shady, don’t trust strangers kids. Before embarking, Ash calls Prof. Oak, Mimy answers, but eventually Oak gets on the phone and tells of a Jumpluff/Bellossom/Water Pokemon three-way feud, which only Bulbasaur can quell. Tracy thinks his work in the Hidden Village where he met Ash will give him the skills to solve this problem. Team Rocket heads into the blimp as usual, but get locked in the milk freezer, uh oh. At Oak’s lab, Heracross comes to meet his best sap friend, which Bulbasaur meets with a Vine Whip. Bulbasaur goes to talk to the groups fighting, who soundly reject his first advances by attacking Bulbasaur and starting a brawl. Tracy sends Venonat, Scyther, and Marill to help, but Bulbasaur’s Solar Beam impresses the fighters and calms the Pokemon down, but only temporarily. Ash and friends disembark from Moomoo farms safely, while Team Rocket drops as a block of ice to a thousand foot fall. Ash calls Oak who informs him that Bulbasaur is still needed, and that they will build a new lake for the Pokemon to live separately. Bulbasaur leads the effort to dig a lake after Marill locates an underwater spring, but finds out that there is a rock layer to penetrate. Bulbasaur comes up with the solution to get Poliwhirl, who is acting like a premadonna, to soften the earth while Sandslash dig it out, ingenious. Mimy brings a heap load of Pokemon food, so everyone can eat and work together, continuing the bond these Pokemon are forming. But now, larger tougher rocks are buried in the ground, so everyone works together to help Bulbasaur pull it out with a Vine Whip. Our heroes find the spring, which fills up a little lake, fulfilling their vision. Just as everyone is celebrating, an Oddish falls into the hole followed by a rock, and Bulbasaur seemingly sacrifices itself to save the Oddish…. Queue the Bulbasaur montage with slow jazz music… its humid in here or something.. Its not me its you… all the memories they shared… is it all over???? Ash wakes up worrying about Bulbasaur, who we got back to all muddy but not hurt because it burrowed in the ground before impact. Everyone throw Bulbasaur in the air like a hero… lets go! Ash calls Oak to recap the exciting day and asks him to keep Bulbasaur at the lab, Ash reluctantly agrees with him. Bulbasaur walks around to keep peace in the lab, his new task in life, as he looks to the sky and Ash.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Bulbasaur, you will be missed buddy… for now!
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Team Rocket… it looks like you were frozen in your tracks… thank you I am here all week.
One thing I learned: Pokemon working together can do anything… and Delia is always with Oak wherever he is… hmmm.
Who is that Pokémon?: Arbok, I hated this Pokemon as a kid but each year I like it more, and I think Glare is a useful move with a good connection to its physiology.
Best Quote: “I can’t feel my nose, I can’t feel my toes, I wish I wore clothes!” – Team Rocket all complaining about how cold it is.
Best Scene: Bulbasaur’s Solarbeam, I am a sucker for huge attacks where they pan to the sky.
