Summary: Our heroes have finally found a Pokemon Center, but first they check out a battle between a Poliwrath and a Hitmontop. Poliwrath wins the match, and its trainer challenges anyone to beat it, which of course Ash takes up because he is Ash and is a bit overzealous and overconfident, but he is a great battler so let’s see. Misty steps in and says it makes more sense for Poliwhirl to battle Poliwrath. Both Pokemon start with a Water Gun, Poliwhirl uses Bubble but misses and gets bodied by a DoubleSlap/Submission counter. Ash brings out Bayleef and uses Razor Leaf, but Poliwrath uses DoubleSlap. Bayleef counters with a Body Slam while Team Rocket is looking on, they want Poliwrath. They are both about to attack each other again, but Brock stops the match citing Poliwrath looking tired. The Poliwrath trainer introduces himself as Delaney. Our heroes go to the Pokemon Center, but Ash spills his bag and the King’s Rock, Poliwhirl picks it up while Misty returns it to its ball. Meanwhile, Team Rocket pulls their psychic routine on Delaney as he walks down the road, stealing Poliwrath. Our heroes are alerted to the theft of Poliwrath, so they join Delaney on the hunt for Team Rocket. Jessie asks Poliwrath to call her master, but Poliwrath DoubleSlaps them all to hell, including giving James a Submission and Meowth a Water Gun. Our heroes stumble upon a Pokemon Center and Ash gets his Pokemon back. They hear of Poliwrath challenging an Ursaring, Poliwrath has a controlling contraption put on it by Team Rocket which somehow makes it obedient. Our heroes come to save the day, with Poliwrath begrudgingly fighting Phanpy, and Corsola. Corsola hits the middle of the contraption freeing Poliwrath and putting the device on Jessie, with James and Meowth taking turns controlling Jessie. Team Rocket puts one last valiant fight but gets bodied by Phanpy and Poliwrath before Misty sends out Poliwhirl with the King’s Rock, who evolves into Politoed. Politoed is a jolly fella who starts rubbing the belly of everyone it sees, dancing around and shaking hands. Politoed uses Water Gun and DoubleSlap to send Victrebell away, and then uses Swagger to confuse Arbok and Victrebell before Poliwrath and Politoed dual-DoubleSlap with a Phanpy Take Down. Pikachu sends Team Rocket to the moon, goodbye Delaney! Onto Blackthorn City.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: All the Polis, this is my favorite Pokemon line by far. This episode was made for me.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Delaney, he fell for the horrible psychic routine, what a noob.
One thing I learned: Don’t control a Pokemon against its will, just wrong.
Who is that Pokémon?: Pinsir, meh, I don’t like its Mega-evolution much either.
Best Quote: “Poliwrath does have the air of a brazen brute” – James, yes he does and he is glorious.
Best Scene: Politoed using Swagger, I love the red aura surrounding its body.
