Summary: Ash is still babying Larvitar, who doesn’t really like Misty and Brock, screeching when they get too close. Ash runs and falls down a hill, where they run into a lake. The lake has a bunch of tired looking Slowpoke, a King’s Rock in the middle, and two researchers named Alice and Prof. Telluswho and their Slowpoke Arthur. Arthur has way more energy than the other Slowpoke, Alice describes how the lake had an earthquake but bedrock cracked the lake too deep, making it dry out slowly and hurting the Slowpoke habitat. Alice takes our heroes to ancient drawings which depict a Slowking who uses his intuition to help the lake fill after a drought in antiquity by finding Slowpoke’s paradise. Team Rocket comes in as usual, using Arbok and Weezing to grab the King’s Rock for their own gain, but Pikachu’s Quick Attack is no use to stop them. Arbok uses a Bite but Larvitar’s Screech stops Arbok in its tracks. Slowpoke hits Larvitar on the back to stop its Screech attack. Team Rocket takes this opportunity to grab the rock but Brock uses Forrestress… wait… wasn’t it just Pineco… when did they evolve???? I totally missed explaining Pineco’s evolution in the last episode, my B. Anyways Team Rocket is sent flying as usual. Alice bemoans the fate of the Slowpoke and Slowbro, but Arthur takes it as his challenge to become Slowking for everyone. The hungry Shellder keep attacking Arthur, but through its pure guile and a Screech from Larvitar, Arthur puts on the King’s Rock to evolve, and then becomes a world class G with his Psychic and Water attacks, sending Team Rocket flying. Slowking leads the Slowpoke into paradise, but has to say goodbye to Slowking in an emotional ending… I’m not crying.. YOU ARE!
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Arthur, what a kind and strong G of a Slowpoke who cares so much about his trainer.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Nobody, Team Rocket doing their thing but everyone is either cool or their normal selves. Kind of annoyed with Larvitar’s Screech.
One thing I learned: Slowking are powerful and sacred, especially with the Slowpoke which makes sense.
Who is that Pokémon?: Kadabra, love this pokemon and the whole line. The original Abra Pokemon card is my favorite.
Best Quote: “Slowking, the royal Pokemon, Slowking are known to keep a level head in any circumstance” – Dexter with the on point analysis. Is this my first Pokedex entry quote? Maybe… more coming soon! Team Rocket can’t dominate this section.
Best Scene: The emotional goodbye between Alice and Arthur… touching ending here.
