Pokemon 106: Bound for Trouble

Pokemon Company

Airdate: July 15th, 1999

Summary: The crew end up on a new island, Tracey remarks that this island is filled with huge Pokémon. The gang falls into a trap off of a bluff, a real high point in Team Rocket trap creation. Team Rocket use Arbok and Weezing to grab Pikachu, and use special electric proof gloves to capture our favorite electric mouse. Team Rocket binds Pikachu to Meowth, but a Pidgeot grabs them and takes off. Pikachu shocks its way out of Pidgeot’s clutches, and Meowth has entered its own personal hell. The crew meet Team Rocket, who give them a fair fight by telling them what is going on. Team Rocket bounces in their balloon, and Tracey uses Marill to listen for a Pidgeot. Pikachu asserts its dominance, and Meowth is a one-cat interpreter. The Pidgeot nest is empty, until the mother swoops in and hits Ash. He is determined to find Pikachu. Pikachu and Meowth run into a Rhydon who is not feeling particularly friendly, but Pikachu and Meowth scheme to open Rhydon’s mouth and shock it. Team Rocket and the crew both search for our friends while Pikachu and Meowth search for food. Pikachu shares an apple it found with Meowth, and Meowth starts thinking nostalgically of his meetings with Pikachu. Pidgeot and Rhydon are out for blood, and Arbok and Snorlax respectively fight off these giant Pokémon. Ash uses Bulbasaur to grab the key for the locking device from Team Rocket. Togepi blasts Team Rocket off, and two buddies are reuniting.

Best Trainer/Pokémon: Pikachu and Meowth, what a comedy team.

Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Rhydon, what a grump.

One thing I learned: Sometimes bondage is funny, especially with two rivals.

Island Monitor: Trovita Island -> Fairchild Island

Best Quote: “I have a feeling this ain’t over” -Meowth

Best Scene: Meowth and Pikachu reuniting with their friends.
