Airdate: July 1st, 1999
Summary: Ash and the crew head to Trovita Island, and Misty saves a young girl drowning in a whirlpool with a Seel. The girl’s brother spots the deed and thinks Misty is wonderful. Team Rocket is stuck in a whirlpool as well. They brother dances with Misty, but can’t be distracted from dancing with Misty. The girl sticks up for Ash and his gym match. The brother’s name is Rudy, and he has some flare. Rudy tests Ash, making him hit targets that pop up on a boat course. He hits targets with Pikachu, Team Rocket pops up in their ship, Squirtle hits a target, and Team Rocket gets blasted. Misty is impressed by Ash’s display, Rudy notices. Rudy tells Ash he will battle him, best 2 out of 3, and invites Misty to dinner leaving Tracy and Ash in the dust. Tracey shows Prof. Oak a picture of an Elekid, although we don’t know what that Pokémon is yet. Misty enjoys Rudy’s cooking, and his sister makes a move to get Misty to stay. Rudy changes the subject; will this be the second friend to leave Ash. Rudy shows Misty his dancing training, and proposes that Misty stay at the gym with him. He gives her until after the match to decide. It’s the day of the match, and Ash sends Pikachu out against Electabuzz. This electric Pokémon is a handful, Ash has to sabe Pikachu from falling off of the cliff. The second battle is between Bulbasaur and Exeggutor, Rudy puts on this coconut’s favorite jams, but Bulbasaur cuts this tree down to size with a Sleep Powder attack. The third battle is Starmie vs. Squirtle, Rudy dedicates this battle to Misty, the girl who stole his heart. Starmie uses a Water Gun attack and Squirtle counters. Misty yells at Ash to bring out Squirtle’s real power, breaking his heart. Squirtle aims its Water Gun on the ground, and shows it can use Hydro Pump. After a Skull Bash Squirtle wins, and Ash gets his third badge. Misty says goodbye to Rudy,
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Ash, he is just trying to get a gym badge, not deal with Rudy’s shit.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Rudy, he isn’t even paying attention to Ash in the match! Come on bruh.
One thing I learned: Rudy is a synonym for Casanova.
