Summary: Ash is at the Blackthorn Gym ready to fight Clair, he starts out with Pikachu against Kingdra, who after taking a Thunderbolt sends a tough Twister attack at Pikachu. Pikachu’s Thunder attack doesn’t work well versus Kingdra because it is part Dragon-type. Kingdra sends a Hydro Pump, Pikachu counters with a Thunderbolt. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is chilling near the lake where Jessie complains about what happened with Dratini and Wobbuffet eats all their donuts. Ash finds Kingdra difficult to face, but Brock and Misty suggest he go with a different Pokemon. Team Rocket goes in to steal the Dragon Fang, while Noctowl faces Kingdra. Noctowl uses Hypnosis and Kingdra Agility, which helps it avoid the owl’s attack. Meowth picks the lock to the Dragon Fang location, James uses a grabber mission to avoid the trip alarms. Kingdra’s Hydro Pump almost knocks out Noctowl, but Team Rocket triggers the alarm after stealing the Dragon Fang. Clair, Ash, and Misty bring out their Pokemon to follow Team Rocket into the lake, and eventually the Dragon’s Den which leads to the Dragon Holy Land which must be undisturbed. Team Rocket finds a waterfall and falls into the Holy Land while Dragonair helps guide our heroes safely to that area. Team Rocket runs into Dragonite, who smells the Dragon Fang, but Meowth convinces Dragonite that bad people are following them and that Dragonite needs to help protect the fang and Team Rocket, which Dragonite believes. Our heroes arrive in the Holy Land and try to find Team Rocket. Dragonite blasts a Hyper Beam attack at our heroes, who are confused as to why Dragonite is attacking them. Dragonite helps them escape as a figure comes in from the sky… it has to be Lance, right?
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Kingdra, what a cool and boss Pokemon.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Team Rocket, can’t they just leave the dragon’s alone?
One thing I learned: Don’t mess with a dragon type trainer, especially if you are Team Rocket, you can’t handle that smoke.
Who is that Pokémon?: Octillery, a decent Pokemon with a cool move pool, I liked the beta design better with the helmet.
Best Quote: “Don’t get sad, get even!” – James, the most distilled version of Team Rocket.
Best Scene: any Dragonite flying scene is pretty sweet.
