Pokemon Company

Airdate: December 3, 2002

Summary: Brock is back to Pewter City after his trip around Johto, when he runs into his dad posing as the old man as he did way back when Ash first battled Brock. Brock’s dad, Flint, said his Mom, Lola, ruined the gym. Brock notices that there is a hedge and flowers, he then goes home and says hello to all of his siblings who look a lot like him. He sees his mom who is putting another painting on the wall. Brock steps into the gym, where his mom puts water with a ton of Water Pokemon, including a Blastoise, Gyrados, and Tentacruel. Apparently, Flint is walked over by his wife, so Brock has to volunteer Flint to battle Lola to make the gym a Rock-Type gym again. Brock recounts Ash beating Onix with an electric type, motivating his dad to win the match. Lola uses a Marill, while Flint uses a Golem. Golem lands on a rock, almost falls into the lake, Golem uses Earthquake, sending the water all over the gym and pushing Marill into the rocks. Marill uses Surf which hits Golem and makes it sink. Blastoise gets Golem out of the water, as Flint loses the battle. Golem and Marill get along as Brock heats Golem up with a dryer. Flint remembers how his mother’s Poliwag beat his Graveler, the way he commanded Graveler, and the way her Poliwag used Hydro Pump. Brock’s parents reconnect about how much they love each other, while Brock’s siblings talk about how much they like someone in their class. Brock’s parents are getting a bit too cuddly, Brock asks for his battle now. Flint wants to make it a Rock/Water type, while his brother Forrest says he wants to be the leader with a Rock-type focus. Brock goes and talks to him in his quiet place, Forrest wants to know about the girls, but he also wants to get his first Pokemon and become a trainer. Brock wakes up and goes to the gym, he challenges Lola to a battle. Brock uses his Onix, while Lola uses her Mantine. Onix uses Dig in the water to create a Whirlpool, draining the water from the field and leaving Mantine flopping like a fish, before he comes up and sends Mantine flying. Mantine uses Bubblebeam, Onix uses Bind, Mantine can’t use Confuse Ray but gets Bubblebeam off. Mantine uses another Bubblebeam but Onix’s Tail Slam attack wins the match, a Rock-Type defeats a Water-type! Lola agrees to make it a Rock-type gym if they can keep the interior decorating. Brock is off to another adventure with Ash, but promises to help Forrest with girls beforehand.

Best Trainer/Pokémon: Brock, he got the gym back and set it up for his brother Forrest before leaving.

Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Flint, he completely caved on the gym plan, spineless.

One thing I learned: Brock is almost always the most level-headed trainer in any situation.

Best Quote: “I’m becoming an art connoisseur” – Brock’s Mom, a lot like mine she moves from hobby to hobby with great enthusiasm.

Best Scene: Brock and Forrest talking about Pokemon battles and the love of Pokemon.
