Pokemon Chronicles 4: Showdown at the Oak Corral

Pokemon Company

Airdate: January 14, 2002

Summary: Tracy and Bayleef go and feed all of Ash’s Pokemon, meanwhile Butch and Cassidy lay in wait plotting to steal all of the Pokemon there. Tracy is in the house now when a Magikarp salesman comes in to sell, but he leaves very quickly, with Oak being pissed off that people are selling Pokemon. Meanwhile, Delia and Mimey come in with cookies, while Bulbasaur walks around Oaks Lab, he notices a fake Golem and Nidoqueen walking around but doesn’t do anything. Totodile follows them and sprays them with a Water Gun. Butch in the Golem suit uses a device to Reflect the Water Gun. Oddish sees Butch and Cassidy half in their suit and reports to Bulbasaur, who tries to warn Delia about the imminent threat. Noctowl is visited by Cyndaquil, Bulbasaur, and Oddish who then try and warn Tracy by taking him to where Butch and Cassidy are. Noctowl spots Butch and Cassidy, but they still are able to sneak into the lab. Oak invites Delia and Mimey to dinner… I wonder what is going on there… Tracy and Oak realize that someone entered the lab and took Pokemon, so they have Bayleef and Heracross lead a search party of Ash’s Pokemon to locate Butch and Cassidy and the missing Pokeballs. A Nidoking spots Nidoqueen and Golem in their suits, Nidoking starts to hug Nidoqueen before Nidoqueen pushes Cassidy as Nidoqueen. Muk then comes over trying to say hi to the Pokeballs disguised as a Muk. Noctowl spots the camouflaged helicopter while Muk holds both Butch and Cassidy down. Totodile hits Golem and Nidoqueen away from Muk’s grasp, allowing them to escape. Butch and Cassidy almost make it to the helicopter, but they are surrounded by Ash’s Pokemon… here comes their motto! Butch and Cassidy sent Hitmontop and Houndour while Oak commands everyone to grab the Pokeballs back. Oak chooses Bulbasaur, Tracy uses Scyther, Delia uses Mimey. Delia uses a Light Screen, while Bulbasaur uses a tough Vine Whip and Scyther a Quick Attack/Cut combo before getting a bit tired per usual. Oak has Cyndaquil and Bulbasaur do a Flamethrower/Solarbeam combination with a Totodile Water Gun finish to send them flying. Oak says a poem that the narrator says might be about his love for Delia.. SOMETHING IS HAPPENING BETWEEN THOSE TWO!

Best Trainer/Pokémon: Bulbasaur, the Pokemon of the hour and protector of the lab.

Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Butch and Cassidy, a low-budget Jessie and James with less flair.

One thing I learned: Oak should have better security in his lab.

Best Quote: “This will be like taking candy from a Togepi” – Butch, not a bad joke at all.

Best Scene: Delia commanding Mr. Mime with deft precision, what a battler!
