Summary: Our crew are swimming in a lake when a ton of lily pads start moving towards them in the water. Ash figures out with the Pokedex that they are Lotad, they seem really friendly as they create a beautiful water display. One of the Lotad can’t keep up until Brock walks near and squirts him. A little girl walks up and says they can’t go to Lotad Lake, while James says he is dying because he doesn’t have water. However, he is revived when he sees a berry in a tree. Jessie and Meowth eat the berry but it is too hot for them. The girl’s name is Natalie, we learn that from her sister Nicole when the crew gets escorted to their flower shop. Meanwhile, another “vision of loveliness” Rita comes in with the Wailmer Pail, Natalie gets jealous as Rita says she has a crush on Brock. Nicole makes an Oran Berry Pie, and then sees some of the other berries they grow. They view Pecha berries, Ash almost eats the hot Tamato berry. Brock is very interested in the berries because they help give different qualities to the Pokemon who eat them, he wants to look for Sitrus berries. Lotad come and water the sister’s garden as a thank you for giving them berries. James is revived from drinking the water, while Jessie and Meowth’s mouths still hurt. Meowth dreams that Lotad will help Giovanni brush his teeth and make them vice president… weird. The Lotad with the little stream causes a traffic jam but Brock helps it learn how to water the plants. The Lotad finish their work and go back to the lake, while the derpy Lotad waits around. Nicole and Rita see a note from Natalie who says she is finding Sitrus berries in the dark for Brock. Lotad follows Brock as they look for Natalie, they hear her scream as she is cornered by Beedrill, Brock saves her by sending out Forretress to use a Rapid Spin. The crew hears a sound near the lake, it is Team Rocket who says they are trying to scoop up the Lotad.. The derpy one rides on Pikachu and sends a powerful Water Gun that leaks the Lotad out of the boat. Lotad picks Brock to be its trainer, our guy has another traveler, here we go! Rustboro is very close… I think.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Lotad, I love this derpy Pokemon.. It is my favorite line in the whole generation.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Team Rocket, love those Lotad alone!
One thing I learned: That I love the Lotad line even more than I did before, Lotad and Ludicolo especially. Mirror B!
Who is that Pokémon?: Magby, I like Magby better than Magmar or Magmortar but it isn’t a favorite of mine.
Best Quote: “I can’t say, loose lips sink ships” – Meowth, a kernel of wisdom.
Best Scene: Lotad joining Brock and the crew on their journey.
