PK05: Winter Games
Summary: We start with a rap intro, come on everybody do the Holiday Rap! Look, it’s Vulpix! Poliwag! Ash has caught a Heracross and Chikorita at this point and that is it. Ash, Brock, and Misty go into town, and as usual in these specials, Pikachu is in charge. Everyone watches them go, but Bulbasaur hits Chikorita off of a stool to say goodbye. Squirtle blows hot air on the glass and puts his face onto it, so does Pikachu, Togepi follows along, so cute! Chikorita feels left out, but Pikachu encourages it to play. Chikorita has an attitude and hits a flip flop, bonking Togepi and making it cry until Vulpix calms it down. Chikorita runs away, and Pikachu follows. Chikorita runs into an iceberg, knocking it down. The iceberg makes a noise, so all the Pokemon decide to hit them to create a song. Chikorita hates this amusement and hits the icicles down, she runs away again. The Pokemon follow Chikorita to the ice rink, where they skate around. Meowth joins but gets spun around and flies away per usual. Chikorita gets along with the Pokemon right when our heroes return for the day.
Best Pokemon: Vulpix, I love how it calmed Togepi down after Chikorita was being naughty.
PK06: Stantler’s Little Helpers
Summary: It is a dark night and the lights are on the Christmas Tree, everyone is waiting for Santa Claus in a toasty cabin. Pikachu and Togepi go to sleep in their trainers arms, while Chikorita pops out of her ball to go sleep with Ash, jealous of Pikachu she lifts him out of bed and puts herself next to Ash. Everyone’s Pokemon comes out of their ball, including Heracross and Bulbasaur, they all look outside to the Christmas tree and shooting stars, with one red one streaking through the skies. All the Pokemon fall out of the window, running into the forest. They stumble upon Santa Claus and his sick Stantler, they wonder what is wrong with the Stantler. The Pokemon volunteer to look around the forest for some berries Santa can use as medicine. Pikachu thinks it should use the bright star to help find them. Chikorita hits the star down, they walk to the top of the mountain but report that they haven’t found anything. Vulpix spots some however and they all team together to acquire the berries. They get the berries back to Santa and Stantler feels good enough to finish their Christmas delivery.
Best Pokemon: Pikachu and Vulpix for finding and grabbing the berries. Vulpix 2 for 2 so far… I miss that fox… take care of them Suzie!
PK07: Pikachu and Pichu
Summary: A city landscape, Pikachu and Togepi are riding up an elevator. Pikachu sees a Pichu on a windowsill. All of the Pokemon are let out of their balls, Vulpix is still there! Poliwag is a Poliwhirl, we have Noctowl as well in tow now. Ash tells the Pokemon they have until 6pm to do what they want. Pikachu spots the Pichu brothers again, One is rambunctious and the other is safe. Pikachu goes to chase them up a flagpole but gets attacked by some Murkrow. Meowth is cleaning a window when he thinks he sees Pikachu stuck up on the flagpole, but says he has “pneumonia” in his eyes… weird. Pikachu falls from the pole but uses a floating band of Hoppip to get to safety, hopping onto Meowth’s ledge, making him fly, and going right to the Pichu Brothers. Pikachu is sad he can’t be near his friends, but the Pichu Brothers show him the way back through a twists and turns on vents, on tour buses, watercraft, a mad Houndour chase, and eventually a Pokemon playplace with all sorts of Pokemon like Magby, Smoochum, Smeargle, Cleffa, Hitmontop, Schuckle, etc. Pikachu reunites with his friends and our heroes by the end of the day, but not before asking for any available Pokemon’s help in saving the falling playplace after Houndour wacks into it. Pokemon coming together to cooperate and save a beloved home… a real tearjerker. In the end, Ash has an anniversary party for Pikachu on the day they first met… I’M NOT CRYING, YOU ARE!
Best Pokemon: The Pichu Brothers, two great additions to the Pikachu short universe.
PK08 and PK 09: Delibird’s Dilemma/Snorlax Snowman
Summary: Our heroes are back with the same crew essentially as the Pichu Brothers, but without Vulpix! A Delibird flies onto screen, Pikachu is rolling a snowball to hit some pins, Pikachu bowls a strike. Meowth walks right next to a tough Skarmory after getting whacked by Meowth, Delibird gets rocked and drops its gift, luckily Noctowl grabs it at the last minute. Delibird passes out, but Cyndaquil tickles it, while Togepi and Pikachu console it for losing its presents. Our heroes Pokemon go and look for all the gifts. Totodile, Chikorita, and the gang find some gifts, but there are a few more left to find, Gloom helps Bulbasaur find another one in the forest. Totodile collects the final gift, but drops it, luckily it is saved by an Aipom. Now onto Snorlax Snowman, our heroes are now building a snowman with nicely shaped snowballs, but Totodile builds a huge one. Chikorita makes a face on the snowman, Pikachu puts the ears on while Chikorita finishes the snowman in the shape of a Snorlax. Our heroes wake up, see the Snorlax snowman animated and waving at them to run up the stairs and meet it. Chikorita hits an apple down, Snorlax dives for it and they land on Snorlax who takes them for a wild ride that has them trapped on an iceberg in the middle of the water. Snorlax goes to sleep, but they get to view the Northern Lights. They get pulled into a strong whirlpool, but Snorlax wakes up and uses an Ice Beam to create an underwater aquarium. They then fashion an ice float with the ice and sail home. Our heroes wake up and it seems like a dream, as their Snorlax snowman is still on the top of the hill.
Best Pokemon: Totodile, loved his contributions to this episode and the Delibird.
PK10: Pikachu’s Pikaboo
Summary: Pikachu and our friends are chilling at the beach, Bayleef is sleeping along with Cyndaquil, who gets sprayed by Totodile. A Yanma leads our Pokemon to a garden, which a Granbull, Kecleon, and Larvitar are guarding. Pikachu and friends come and say hi, Granbull welcomes them and gets all the Pokemon of the garden to come through. Larvitar shrugs them off and is a bit anti-social. Our heroes play a big game of hide and seek, Pikachu is it. Everyone finishes hiding, while Meowth and Wobbuffet are mowing the lawn. Pikachu starts to look, finds a Sunflora, Sandshrew, and on and on. As they are playing, the lawn mower starts on its own, but Meowth and Wobbuffet are sweeping chimneys until they see the mower and run for it. Everyone is running for it to avoid being cut down by the mower. Larvitar kicks the mower which temporarily stops it, but it blows through the hedges of the garden, cuts down trees, and generally threatens the safety of our favorite Pokemon, leaving them stranded on a boat dock. The mower charges them.. But they avoid it as the mower goes in the water.. But this thing is a death machine, coming out of the water. Our heroes work together to create a rolling platform that cuts off all of its saws, stopping the machine in its tracks eventually with the help of Bayleef’s Vine Whip. They eventually get it into the shed, and Kecleon stops its impeccable hiding job. Now Larvitar is friends and wants to play hide and seek.
Best Pokemon: Bayleef, this Pokemon really helped both the health and safety of our Pokemon friends, and did some landscaping on the side.
PK11: Camp Pikachu
Summary: It is a crisp fall day, and a train comes down the tracks with the Pichu Brothers! Wynaut is chilling in a tree but gets flipped up with the Pichu brothers right where our favorite Pokemon are playing, now including Corsola and Phanpy. As Pikachu leads his friends… a horrific country song is playing, MY EARS! They run into a Sudowoodo who gets Pichu stuck in his branch arm, while Meowth and Wobuffett fall down a hill on their hike. Everyone is drinking from a stream, Totodile is surfing down a waterfall. Pikachu stands behind a sunset and acts like a monster, Cyndaquil starts a campfire. Pichu and Wynaut meet a Duskull, who all decide to try and scare the other Pichu brother and the rest of the Pokemon by the campfire. It rains on the camp, but a Volbeat shows up and has a plan to take them to the water mill. The Pokemon gain refuge, but the mill has many traps, twists, and turns with dangerous wheels, falling objects, etc. After all the excitement, our friends are sleeping all the excitement off. Skarmory grabs Meowth and Wobbuffet’s food, while all the Pokemon race down the hill to catch the train in time with the help of Cyndaquil’s combustion engine and Phanpy’s toss.
Best Pokemon: Duskull, a love a little playful campfire scaring.
PK Special: Pichu Brothers in Party Panic*
Summary: Fog roles on the town, the Squirtle Squad, Cubone, Meowth, and Wobbufett are standing on top of a building. Meanwhile, the Pichu brothers are with their friends, who all have cards with crescent moons on them. They lead them to an Aipom and a Smargle who say that they found the cards at a clock tower, and then to an abandoned warehouse. The Squirtle Squad and Cubone stop the Pokemon from joining Meowth’s Crescent Moon Party. Wobbuffet shows up and kicks them out, leaving them dejected. Meowth is a tough director as what he really wants Cubone and the Squirtle Squad to do is practice his song. Meowth disses Cubone who almost quits the band. The Pichu Brothers step on Houndour again, Smoochum runs into an Oddish, everyone is scrambling. The Pichu Brothers escape Houndour, and end up on a roof where they see clouds shaped as them, fruits. Houndour finds them again, but they escape again as Houndour is hit by a fire hydrant up in the air right under a Snorlax. Azumarill delivers the invitations to all of Pichu’s Posse, along with all the other Pokemon invited. The Pichu Brothers eat apples, while Meowth Music Attack has their concert… with an interesting song about his perfect plan to trap all of the Pokemon. The plan doesn’t end up working… I guess… but he does have a firework show that makes him blast off. The Pichu Posse enjoy the firework display as they walk back to their home.
Best Pokemon: Squirtle Squad.. Just for being there, I missed these guys. It is very random that they are here though.
