Summary: Our crew (gotta try a new term, heroes is the Brock/Misty/Ash troika) walks down the road, May is not feeling so hot while Max is excited looking for a Taillow. The crew is out of food in the forest, Team Rocket are eating themselves and are content to wait to catch Pikachu until they are done. Max has a chocolate cookie, which a Taillow takes. They run and follow the Taillow and run into trees full of fruit, but also Taillow who Pikachu stuns, making them angry. Pikachu hits the Taillow with Thunderbolts, but they preserve through the shocks, they will not back down. The Taillow who stole the chocolate goes 1v1 with Pikachu, breaking through Pikachu’s Thunderbolt. Brock shows up out of nowhere (BROCK!!!!!!), and has his Forretress use Explosion. Brock gives Pikachu a potion, and explains how he will travel with Ash, May, Max, AKA the crew. Brock says he is a good cook, but that he doesn’t have much on hand, and says how fierce Taillow are. The Taillow get some food from Team Rocket, and in exchange for more they try to get them to get Pikachu. Meanwhile, Brock finds ingredients to make a stew. Taillow flies in and wants to pick another fight with Ash, it wants a clear winner decided in its battle with Pikachu. They weave in and out, with Quick Attacks, Thunderbolts, but Taillow will not quit. Taillow and Pikachu fight to the end, with Ash finally catching Taillow. The Taillow flock comes in hot, wanting to battle Pikachu, but Ash’s Taillow steps in, so does Brock who is pissed that Team Rocket actually stole his sandwiches that they ate at the beginning of the episode. Ash uses Thunderbolt on Team Rocket to send them flying because he has energy from Brock’s Pokemon food. Taillow says goodbye to their buddies.
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Taillow, they will be an awesome Pokemon for Ash, he is all about Guts and Taillow has that in spades.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Team Rocket, got their food stolen with no Taillow acquired.
One thing I learned: Taillow is a grade-A badass.
Who is that Pokémon?: Misdreavous, I really warmed up to this Pokemon as time went on, and really like Mismagius.
Best Quote: “Bold and courageous just like us” – James… a little bit of awareness here.. I would say they have more determination than courage.
Best Scene: Ash getting his first Hoenn Pokemon with a Taillow/Pikachu collision leading to Taillow’s capture.
