Summary: Our crew is on to Dewford, while May wants to get pasta in a quiet neighborhood in Rustboro, but the restaurant is boarded up. Our heroes are hungry and can’t find the port, but Max finds it… and it’s empty. Everyone is pissed, May feels it is her responsibility to find a boat and runs into an old man with a Wingull named Peeko, YOU GOT PECKED BY THE SEAGULLS. May meets Peeko and becomes friends when May feeds her food, the old man introduces himself as Mr. Briney. May wants to get a ride to Dewford, Briney obliges and says he will wait for May to grab the crew, Team Rocket sets its sights on Peeko while May tells our crew all about Peeko. May comes to Mr. Briney’s house but he sings a different tune and shuns them away because a Team Aqua grunt is holding him and Peeko hostage with his Crawdaunt to get his boat and evade the police. Jenny rolls up saying that the pier is dangerous because the Team Aqua member was spotted there. Our crew pieces the mystery together about why Briney rejected them, they show up at his house again and head to the dock where the Team Aqua member awaits, Briney warns them as Crawdaunt holds Peeko. Team Rocket shows up to screw up everyone’s plans again, Team Aqua can’t catch a break, but our crew and Briney sure can catch one. Team Rocket tries to suck them up, Brock sends Lotad to little initial effect, but it sends a big Water Gun that helps drop Pikachu and Peeko before Crawdaunt blasts Team Rocket away. The grunt escapes with the boat and Peeko, Briney shows our heroes his super secret Batman-esque Wingull airboat the SS Wingull, HE IS COMING FOR YOU PEEKO! Mr. Briney reminisces about his first meeting Peeko as he angrily drives the boat to the Team Aqua rendezvous point, Ash jumps out to use Pikachu’s Thunder attack. Crawdaunt’s Water Pulse and Bubblebeam slow them down… Peeko is in trouble. Pikachu uses Thunder on the rock ahead of the grunt, Mr. Briney uses some fancy maneuvering to flip the older boat and save Peeko, while the Team Aqua submarine emerges from the ocean. The Team Aqua Grunt escapes but Peeko and our crew are safe, they get a Rustboro City pasta and a ride the next day. Off to Dewford!
Best Trainer/Pokémon: Mr. Briney, hooked our crew up with a ride and has pure love for a Wingull, love this man.
Worst Trainer/Pokémon: Team Aqua Grunt, chill out bruh… do not mess with Peeko.
One thing I learned: Wingull are top-tier Pokemon in Hoenn because they demand the devotion of salty old sailors.. Like me!
