Pokemon 299: Gone Corphishin

Pokemon Company

Airdate: May 1, 2003

Summary: James and Meowth wake up with a massive amount of energy, while Jessie is sipping a juice and chilling, they get knocked out by something under the sand. Ash wakes up with similar energy as him and his Pokemon meditate. Ash’s Pokemon get hit by a wave because they couldn’t anticipate a wave coming at them fast enough, They try it again after Ash changes his clothes, everyone goes at the right time, Treecko leaves too late. Ash challenges May to practice for a Pokemon contest, she is trying to get her Pokemon to practice their entrances. A Pokemon is headed towards the camp under the ground, Wurmple uses String Shot but gets pulled by it, Treecko is able to hold Wurmple like a tug-of-war, but this Pokemon is very strong and drags everyone into the mud as they try and help Treecko and Wurmple. Team Rocket and the crew both stake out and find the Corphish that is running into everyone, including taking Pokemon food. Pikachu uses Thunderbolt to hit the Pokemon out of the sand, we see the tip of its head is a red horn but nothing else. Ash tries to bait it with Pokemon food so he can see who that red horn belongs to. Ash thinks the Pokemon plan is working, but there are some seaweed figures in the sand, it is 100% Team Rocket… Jessie and James are eating Pokemon food.. And because of the crew’s hole Team Rocket gets a taste of their own medicine but tries to recover with a motto. The Pokemon comes right under them and knocks them out, the Pokemon reveals itself to be a Corphish after Pikachu’s Quick Attack. Corphish didn’t mean to attack our crew, but just to get its food. Now it is Pikachu vs. Corphish, Pikachu battles it with a Thunderbolt, Corphish counters with a Bubblebeam and Dig. Ash sends out Treecko now after Pikachu proved unsuccessful, Treecko sits patiently waiting for Corphish who is impatient. Treecko counters with a Pound off of Corphish’s Crabhammer, it faints and Ash catches the crustacean.

Best Trainer/Pokémon: Corphish, this Pokemon is so strong for being so small and I like the unconventional choice for Ash.

Worst Trainer/Pokémon: May, tough stuff on the somersault routine.

One thing I learned: A little crustacean can pack a mighty punch, which is why it’s called the Ruffian Pokemon.

Who is that Pokémon?: Shroomish, I like this Pokemon but love Breloom. I don’t like other Mushroom based Pokemon much, except this one.

Best Quote: “Whoever did this hasn’t seen the last of Team Rocket” – Jessie, don’t stand in the way of her war path.

Best Scene: Ash giving Treecko congratulations for his battle success versus Corphish.
